Academic Results
Congratulations to the Ravenswood Class of 2008 for achieving outstanding Higher School Certificate and International Baccalaureate Diploma Examination results.
Combined HSC and IB Results for 2008
The combined HSC and IB results for Year 12 2008 have produced the following outstanding levels:
- 4% of the girls gained a UAI of 99 or above;
- 25% gained a UAI of 95 or above;
- 46% gained a UAI of 90 or above;
- 82% gained a UAI of 80 or above and
- 96% gained a UAI of 70 or above.
For a non-selective school this result affirms the consistently excellent academic results achieved year on year and is extremely pleasing for us all.
Higher School Certificate
- Our highest scoring girl was Thea Thomas, who scored a UAI of 99.70
- Other girls who scored UAIs above 99 were Ruth Friedlaender (99.20), Georgia Saxelby (99.00), Anna Sims (99.15), and Sarah Smith (99. 15)
- Nine girls received a Premier’s Award for All-Round Excellence: Lucinda Bozic, Stephanie Collins, Ruth Friedlaender, Madeline Goldie, Elke Pierce, Emma Roberts, Anna Sims, Sarah Smith and Thea Thomas
- 34.08% of our girls featured in the Distinguished Achievers list, having attained results in the highest band
- Ravenswood placed 18th in the state overall; 26th in the state for English; 32nd in the state for Mathematics (37% of students achieved marks in the highest band)
Best in Course
These girls were placed in the top 15 positions in the State in courses.
- Sarah Smith - 1st place in Visual Arts
- Emma Warby - 1st place in Hospitality
- Thea Thomas - 3rd place in German Extension, 2nd place in Latin Continuers.
Thea has accepted a place in International Studies/Law at The University of Sydney
- Emma Leyten – 15th place in PDHPE
ARTEXPRESS – exceptional achievement
- 87% of the Visual Arts cohort obtained a mark of 90 or more out of 100 possible exhibition in ARTEXPRESS
- 7 girls were successful in securing a place in one of the exhibitions planned for 2009 in Sydney and regional NSW
We also congratulate:
Rachael Kozicki, whose Drama Individual Project was selected for inclusion in OnSTAGE, the showcase of the most outstanding HSC Drama performances and projects.
Sally Kunkler-Warren, whose Drama Individual Project was placed on the reserve list for OnSTAGE.
Susan Irvine, who was successful in having her Design and Technology Major Work nominated for possible inclusion in DesignTECH 2008, the showcase of the most outstanding HSC Design and Technology projects.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Examinations
In 2008, 8 girls from Ravenswood presented for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme Examinations, achieving pleasing results. Six of the 8 girls who attained a Diploma achieved IB scores which convert to UAIs above 80.
The school’s highest scoring girl was Rhiannon Bennett who scored 37 (out of a possible 45) which converted to a UAI of 96.7.
Maximum Grades achieved by Ravenswood students
Four of the girls obtained a Grade 7, the maximum possible score, in one or more subjects.
Rhiannon Bennett, Hayley Billinghurst, Ada Chan, Chin-Chin Cheng, Elizabeth Flatley were all awarded a Grade ‘A’ for their essays in Theory of Knowledge.
