Our Facilities

Located on its original site since 1901, Ravenswood has progressively expanded with the acquisition of new properties and the addition and upgrading of facilities to keep pace with the world around us. With the school’s facilities located on the one campus, interaction across the Year groups, from Kindergarten to Year 12, continues as an appealing advantage.

The impressive Ravenswood Centenary Centre, opened in 2001, has significantly enhanced the opportunities provided through state-of-the-art facilities. The Performing Arts Theatre, Music Centre, classrooms and exhibition areas have expanded the breadth of new experiences for Ravenswood students.

Ravenswood is fortunate in having attractive grounds where students can recreate and enjoy outdoor learning. An extensive multi-purpose complex with heated pool, flexible gymnasium, Strength and Conditioning Centre and Athletics Field give students from Kindergarten to Year 12 a further wealth of experiences.

Junior School students are catered for with their own Resource Centre, playground and play equipment area, adventure playground and adjacent Assembly Hall.

Computer laboratories, mobile laptop computers based on wireless transmission, SMART Boards and networked computers in classrooms ensure that access to internet research and computer software is readily available. Ravenswood students are not required to purchase a laptop computer for use at school. The Digital Language Laboratory also harnesses.

The Centenary Centre, which opened in 2001, is a wonderful resource for the school community. With its 362 seat auditorium, generous proscenium arch stage, two spacious dressing rooms, control room, box office, large foyer space, an Assembly Hall and a commercial kitchen, the Centenary Centre is capable of staging professional full scale musicals, plays, conferences and concerts. A student technical team, “Girls in Black”, is trained by the Centenary Centre Manager to support all major productions in the venue.

Our aim is to integrate technology into the every day school and home experience. Ravenswood not only provides access to technology in many classrooms and specialist Computing Laboratories but also enables students to use home PCs to access school resources.

We have introduced a variety of innovations in technology designed to enrich learning opportunities at the school. In particular, the school’s wireless notebooks provide a new, flexible learning resource in classrooms from Kindergarten to Year 12.

Technology available at Ravenswood includes:

  • K-6 girls use wireless notebooks in their Resource Centre and classrooms.
  • Secondary school classes access the internet and school network resources on wireless notebooks and desktops.
  • Students in the music technology room create music compositions using specialized software on computers with MIDI keyboards.
  • Senior Visual Arts students explore digital imaging on new workstations using Photoshop and have access to scanners and A3 colour printers for their work.
  • Girls from Year 5 to Year 12 use their personal login to provide a secure folder on the school network. Students may also access their own folder from home using the student portal.
  • All Junior School classrooms use SMART Boards as part of their daily lessons.
  • Students in Years 3 to 6 have opportunities to learn Robotics using ‘Robolab’.
