Senior School

As a Ravenswood Senior you are encouraged to take intellectual risks; to think outside traditional constraints; to embrace the challenge of learning; to be an active initiator in your learning; and to be a leader.

As a leader, you contribute to school life in every way. You lead assemblies and organise community involvement. You plan and implement Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. You conduct chapel services and lead extra  curricular activities. You are the captains of our football teams; the voices and thinkers of our debating teams; the leaders of our community.

Your learning focuses on your strengths and talents. It encompasses academic excellence, spiritual development, the fostering of social skills and personal development. In a community small enough to know, yet large enough for growth and development, you have the opportunity to explore your potential and achieve success.

With a focus on self expression, self respect and self discipline, you engage in learning that is meaningful, stimulating and challenging. From academic achievements to sporting excellence and creative pursuits you will develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to become a leader in your chosen career.

With a unique balance of intellectual and creative exploration your learning extends beyond the classroom to include sport, music, drama, debating, social and community activities together with a variety of educational, spiritual, social, physical and recreational activities.

Your learning and development is supported and guided by dedicated and enthusiastic staff. Within and beyond the classroom, staff provide the framework for you to develop the confidence and critical thinking needed to take educated risks and bring success and achievement in your endeavours.

Committed to nurturing the whole person, Ravenswood provides a pastoral care programme to monitor your progress. You are encouraged to discover and travel your own path to self knowledge and understanding, and to maximise your spiritual and personal development.

As a Ravenswood Senior you are part of the wider Ravenswood community consisting of students, parents, teachers, counsellors, coordinators and the Ravenswood Old Girls' Union.

An extensive mentoring and networking programme enables you to draw on the experience, skills and guidance of the extended Ravenswood community. It also allows you to develop life long friendships and connections.

As a Ravenswood Senior you enjoy an increase in free study time. You share a common room with other seniors and develop a working partnership with staff as you make the transition between school, tertiary study and your chosen career.

In Year 10, white studying the School Certificate, you explore your strengths and interests to make informed choices for your final years. In Years 11 and 12 you develop the knowledge, skills and diversity required to embrace your chosen future in a globalised environment.

As a Ravenswood Senior you have a wide choice of study subjects. Most importantly, you have a choice in your final school credential   the Higher School Certificate or the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Both credentials present a range of courses, opportunities, benefits and challenges. Both provide the basis for entry to all Australian and allow you to apply to overseas universities.

From a non selective intake Ravenswood Seniors consistently achieve strong academic results. In past years, 50% have scored in the top 10% of the state in the Universities Admissions Index (UAI). At the same time, Ravenswood Seniors have enjoyed the benefits of consistent university offers with approximately 95% receiving offers of places and 85% gaining their first university choice.

With a thirst for knowledge and learning, as a Ravenswood Senior your final years are fitted with choices, opportunities and challenges. From academic study, to creative, sporting and co curricular activities, Ravenswood provides you with the skills, qualifications and confidence to successfully embark on your future career path.
