Stuart House
From the House Patron
Stuart House in 2008 has been a very active. Led by a very enthusiastic and energetic House Captain and supported by Captains in House, the girls have enjoyed mixed success in the many different House activities. The highlight of the year has been winning the House Choir, with Stuart singing a medley of Spice Girls songs. Providing supper during the main drama production, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, was an enormous undertaking capably supported by many Stuart girls. The support and enthusiastic involvement of girls in House sport and debating deserves to be warmly applauded.
2008 Captain’s Review
I could not be more proud to be the 2008 Captain of Stuart House. The constant enthusiasm and involvement of all the girls has led the House to success in all areas of dance, music, sport and debating throughout the year.
The year started with a bang in Term 4 of 2007 when Stuart won the Dance Festival. Congratulations to all the girls who were led by our Dance Captain Kim Zoljalali, an incredibly talented dancer and choreographer.
The Swimming Carnival in Term 1 2008 was a great day of team and individual success, as well as enormous enthusiasm and cheering from all of the girls. The Year 12s lined the pool in ‘little red riding hood’ costumes, and looked absolutely fantastic! The girls’ spirit and pride that was displayed at the carnival did not reflect the overall placing.
The 2008 Athletics Carnival in Term 2 was another fantastic day and with the new carnival procedure in place, almost every single girl in Stuart participated in a race, leading to our 3rd placing, which was an awesome effort by everyone.
One of the highlights of the year came in Term 2, when Sophie Wright, our incredible Music Captain, led the whole of the Stuart Choir in the Choral Festival. With the theme of ‘girl power’ and singing songs by Shania Twain and the Spice Girls, all of Sophie’s and the House’s hard work and dedication paid off; Stuart won the Inter-House Choir competition.
Throughout the year, Stuart battled it out with the other Houses in Inter-House sport every term, with great results. None of this could have been possible without our outstanding Sports Captain, Lucy Bozic.
Karen Algeo, Stuart’s incredible gym coordinator, led the Stuart gym girls in a fantastic routine with the theme of ‘technology’. Congratulations to Karen and all the girls involved.
The Stuart debaters became the team to beat, with captain Rachel Morison, leading them through an extremely successful season. Congratulations to Rachel and all of the girls who were involved in debating throughout the year.
This year, Stuart has supported the charity Aussie Helpers. With our Social Service Captain Sarah Smith, and her fantastic organisation, Stuart was able to raise thousands of dollars for this great cause.
Many thanks to Ms Carr, our incredible new Stuart House Patron, whose constant enthusiasm, dedication and devotion towards the House has led Stuart to huge success throughout the year.
Thank you to all the Year 12 Stuart girls of 2008, who have made my year as Captain extremely enjoyable and unforgettable. Best of luck to all the Stuart Captains for 2008/2009 and I hope your last year in Stuart is as rewarding and fun as it has been for me!
