Windsor House
Windsor House is the House of participation. We are a sisterhood that is bonded by our House spirit and love of all things Windsor. From Year 7 to Year 12, we take pride in our commitment to each other and in our support of House activities, whether they be sport, music, debating or fund-raising for charity.
Our Year 12 girls inspire the House with their leadership and joyous enthusiasm. Over the years, they have made creative costumes for Carnivals which have included such themes as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jungle Girls and Bob the Builder. The costumes reflect, sometimes in interesting ways, the House colours of green, yellow and brown.
The Windsor sisterhood is evident in the friendships that are made between students of all ages and Year groups. Windsor Tutors are also proudly involved in all House activities and foster the sense of excitement and enjoyment at Carnivals and Festivals.
Our emblem is a shield with a tower on it. As well as being part of Ravenswood’s school history, it also reminds us of Psalm 144:2 “…My lovingkindness, and my fortress, my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust…”
2008 Captain’s Review
2008 proved to be another year marked by success! The spirit, enjoyment, passion and outstanding participation truly symbolise what it is to be a Windsorian.
Taken through ‘time and motion’, it all started many months ago in November with the Windsor dancers taking the spotlight. Led by the all-amazing Katherine Mavridis, whose efforts in choreographing and coordinating the entire routine resulted in the triumph of winning the Dance Festival.
Dressed as Aussie blokes, Windsor hit the sporting arena with a blast. Thanks to our dedicated sports captain Rebecca Burgess, the House truly highlighted talent, friendship and commitment. Beginning with the Swimming Carnival, Windsor set the stage, with the stands empty and the pool full, resulting in an awesome victory to take the shield.
Our participation continued to thrive, leading into the Athletics Carnival where Windsor girls dominated the track. The cheering and support from the entire House was what pushed our girls over the line. All their efforts paid off when Windsor won the overall day, a tremendous success and a credit to you all.
Windsorians were lucky enough to fall into the hands of Helen Chan, who led the girls to sing their way into the first Ravenswood Choral Festival. Done in style, we performed two melodic songs, formed by a combination of hard work, a bundle of laughter and in rehearsal the occasional off-note. The final night proved it was all worth it, with a spectacular performance that we should be truly proud of.
The Windsor gymnasts were our next surprise, revealing a preview to the Beijing Olympics. A combination of tumbling and flipping proved to be a dynamic performance to the credit of all girls involved. Thanks to the group of girls who led the Inter-House competition - your efforts are really appreciated.
The new Inter-House Debating system continued to be a success, developing a thrilling competition that Windsor had in the bag. Our wonderful Debating Captain Steph Collins was remarkable in inspiring, co-ordinating and adjudicating all House debates.
Annica Leal, our Social Service Captain was the driving force behind Windsor’s sensational Cot efforts. Working to support Canteen, all girls put in a monster of an effort that has created a significant donation.
Most importantly a massive thanks to Mr Menzies, working as the glue to the House and making everything possible. His endless source of encouragement and enthusiasm embodies the Windsor spirit, ensuring each girl has the time of her life.
Good luck to the Captain of 2009; just warning you it’s a ridiculous amount of fun! To Year 12 - you guys are the biggest legends, thank you so much for all your help and outstanding leadership. Congratulations all Windsorians, you’re an amazing bunch; good luck and continue with the Spirit. WINDSOR PRIDE!
