World School

Ravenswood has been accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) as a World School. As such Ravenswood offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme which aims to develop citizens who will change the world – not just to be part of a changing world but to become people who will shape that world.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
As an authorised IB World School, Ravenswood offers Year 11 students the option of studying the two year International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme as an alternative to the Higher School Certificate.
The IB Diploma is an internationally recognised tertiary entry qualification which embraces an internationalist perspective. The study of subjects from six distinct areas of learning ensures a broad, but rigorous curriculum which emphasises the development of independent learning skills and the importance of critical thinking.
The philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Organization is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
In being curious, engaged citizens, who both embrace their own culture and are open-minded about other cultures and views, students are putting into practice the IB learner profile, a long term, holistic vision of education.

The IB learner profile is embedded at Ravenswood through the teaching and learning of academic subjects and also through out of classroom experiences. We share the goal of all IB programs worldwide, that is, to develop internationally minded people who recognise their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet. IB learners strive to be inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk-takers, knowledgeable, principled, open-minded, caring, balanced and reflective.
