Philosophy and Governance

Ravenswood is a remarkable school. We offer a unique combination: quality teaching and outstanding academic results; a school that is just the right size, small enough for individual care but large enough to offer choices; and values in a Christian environment.

It is not really possible to encapsulate all that Ravenswood offers in just one phrase, but we can try.

The School Motto - semper ad meliora - always towards better things – affirms the School Philosophy for all members of the school community.

Our Vision is:

Foundations for the Future

School Council

Ravenswood is a Uniting Church School

The School Council provides governance and guardianship for the efficient management of the school and it’s future. It is appointed by and ultimately responsible to the Uniting Church in Australia (NSW Synod).

Council members bring expertise from business, law, technology, architecture, human resources, finance, the Church, and also their roles as parents and past students. They give generously of their time, knowledge and wisdom in support of the school and the Principal.

In consultation with the Principal its role is to:

  • establish, evaluate and uphold the mission, vision and philosophy of the school;
  • develop policies and strategies consistent with these; and
  • protect and enhance the school’s financial viability, making provision for the resources necessary to implement the policies and strategies of the school.
