Opening of the Redesigned Old Girls’ Courtyard

The Old Girls’ Courtyard has been redeveloped into a stylish and lush green space, thanks to celebrity gardener Charlie Albone from the Lifestyle Channel’s Selling Houses Australia. The two-time Chelsea Flower Show medal winner has employed outdoor sculptures, architectural seating and elegant flowering plants to create an enchanting space for our girls to study, build friendships and unwind.

The garden’s focal points are a collection of decorative steel funnels that will have flowering plants trained across them and a large metal dome. The feminine garden includes a series of pink crepe myrtle trees donated by the Class of 2017, magnolias and climbing yellow roses.

The structures include an oversized timber lounge seat that doubles as a stage for outdoor community events, sandstone benches and articulated daybeds that create cosy nooks for students to connect with each other between classes.

'For me, my garden is all about recouping from a busy week and I really want the girls to be able to sit here and not only learn but relax,' Charlie says. 'I hope it will be something of a legacy that will live on.'
