He is President of the IPEN – International Positive Education Network (of which Mrs Johnstone is the Global Vice-Chair). He co-founded IPEN with Professor Martin Seligman, and co-founded Action for Happiness, a worldwide movement and charity headquartered in the United Kingdom that aims to increase global happiness by bringing people together and encouraging them to take action to build a happier society. The patron of Action for Happiness is the Dalai Lama.
Sir Anthony is also one of Britain’s leading contemporary historians. He is a commentator, biographer and honorary historical adviser to 10 Downing Street, author and editor of 45 books, including biographies from Prime Ministers Thatcher to Johnson.
After touring the School and seeing the range of innovative and dynamic wellbeing spaces, Sir Anthony and Mrs Johnstone recorded an insightful Q&A session on a range of topics, from leadership to wellbeing and mindfulness to positive education and systemic change.
“It was a great privilege to host Sir Anthony Seldon at Ravenswood,” said Mrs Johnstone. “He has inspired the Ravenswood community with his academic rigour, practical wisdom, passion for Positive Education, and wellbeing strategies. Having studied and written about the office of the British Prime Minister and the tenures of a number of British Prime Ministers, Sir Anthony also offered valuable, authentic and reflective insights on leadership for our students.”
