In December 2024, a ceremonial Turning of the Sod event marked the commencement of construction of a new, world-class Wellbeing and Sports Centre, advancing the Ravenswood Masterplan for teaching and learning environments.
The Wellbeing and Sports Centre will be an important visible expression of Ravenswood’s multi award-winning Positive Education program and philosophy. Stage 1 of the Centre offers state-of-the-art wellbeing spaces and sporting facilities, including a Great Hall and Gymnasium; Basketball, Netball and roof-top Tennis Courts; a new Strength and Conditioning Centre; and an expansive Foyer to showcase the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize and other community events.

Designed by architectural firm Architectus and constructed by Taylor, both award-winning firms, the Wellbeing and Sports Centre will be a world-class educational facility with spaces that support and contribute to all aspects of student wellbeing.
2025 School Captain Zara West, reflected at the Wellbeing and Sports Centre Turning of the Sod ceremony about how the new Centre will bring sport and wellbeing together under one roof, inspiring the next generation to further understand how these two disciplines coalesce for the betterment of each student’s education. ‘I’ve learned that life isn’t always a straight trajectory to your goals,’ she said. ‘There are bumps and barriers and things to overcome, and it’s in these moments that Positive Education is most crucial.’
‘Sport and wellbeing bring people together to uplift communities and remind us just how capable we really are,’ addressed Zara . ‘It’s in this state-of-the-art building that some of you, along with future generations of RAVO girls, will actualise your dreams. You will gather together to learn, to appreciate art, to play sport, to have fun or to just simply reflect. This building marks the beginning of a new era filled with promise, growth and boundless opportunities for all.’

The ceremony was attended by Chair of School Council, Mr Peter Roach, Ravenswood Council members, Principal Dr Anne Johnstone, members of the Ravenswood Foundation, members of Ravenswood Alumni committee, members of the Ravenswood Parents’ Association, Fidler Fellows, donors, Taylors, EPM Projects, Architectus, staff and Senior School students.
