Learning Enrichment and Gifted Education

At Ravenswood, we celebrate and embrace neurodiversity and recognise the rich contribution that students with learning variability – including gifted high-potential learners and students with disability – bring to our community.

Our commitment to inclusive education is founded on the belief that every child is capable of success in their learning and deserves access to a knowledge-rich and challenging curriculum.

Guided by the latest research in the science of learning, our teaching practices aim to optimise student learning and create a nurturing environment where every learner feels seen, heard and inspired to pursue excellence.

Learning Support

We believe in the potential of every child to flourish and succeed, and know that some students may require additional time, support or practice to access the curriculum on the same basis as other students.

To meet these needs, our dedicated team collaborates closely with parents, classroom teachers and external specialists to provide this tailored assistance. Our goal is to leverage each student’s strengths, de-mystify the learning process, address specific needs and remove learning obstacles.

Support encompasses high-quality, evidenced-informed teaching practices across all classroom programs, personalised assistance from learning support specialists, small group interventions such as the MacqLit literacy program, and classroom accommodations such as the use of assistive technology, co-teaching and in-class support.

Gifted and High-Potential Learners

At Ravenswood, we are dedicated to cultivating an enriching and dynamic environment for our gifted and high-potential learners, inspiring them to broaden both their intellectual and creative capacities.

Our curriculum is intentionally designed to stimulate joyful exploration, enhance critical-thinking skills and encourage innovative problem-solving.

Initiatives such as the Future Problem Solving Program, Maths Olympiad, Ethics Olympiad, Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards, WriteOn competition and Da Vinci Decathlon champion the pursuit of knowledge beyond conventional frameworks. These programs foster opportunities for advanced study, complex analysis, collaboration and creativity.

Specialised extension classes in Mathematics and English ensure unique learning needs are met in a way that challenges and nurtures student potential.

Our goal is to enable gifted and high-potential learners to thrive academically and emotionally, including nurturing their sense of responsibility to make meaningful contributions to the world around them.
