Ravenswood Parents’ Association

The Ravenswood Parents’ Association (RPA) is an invaluable support to the School community.

Since its foundation as the Ravenswood Ladies Committee in 1925, it has provided resources for learning and teaching, as well as amenities and facilities for students.

The RPA is particularly instrumental in welcoming new parents into the warm Ravenswood community. This active group of parent volunteers organises many of the School’s major social and community events held throughout the year, including the RPA Chantry Golf Day, RPA Trivia Night, RPA Christmas Lunch and RPA Class events, all of which help to foster community spirit and engagement across the School.

Funds raised from these events also contribute towards a range of initiatives that support the School and its students. Recent projects that the RPA has funded include the audiovisual upgrade and stage refresh in the Lorraine Smith Auditorium, the Junior School climbing frame and the interactive ‘Magic Planet’.

During the year, the RPA also raises funds and collects items for donation to many different charities, as well as providing care and support to families in need.

Current parents are automatically members of the RPA. The RPA Executive P–6 and 7–12 Committees are voted in at annual general meetings held in November by the parent body.

By joining one of our RPA committees, or volunteering at one of the activities throughout the year, parents model for their daughters the importance of ‘giving back’ and of contributing to their education.

The RPA is, of course, a major force behind Ravenswood’s famous community spirit.

Through it, there are many ways to engage with the School, including by:

  • joining the RPA Committee
  • becoming a Class Parent
  • coming along to a Class Parent or RPA event (such as the RPA Trivia Night)
  • joining the Ravenswood Prayer Group
  • volunteering at community events (such as Open Day and the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize)
  • cooking a meal for a family in need through our ‘Meals Made with Love’ program
  • baking cupcakes in the Junior School to raise funds for charities.

Parents are encouraged to contact the Community Engagement Team on (02) 9498 9828 or at community@ravenswood.nsw.edu.au for further information about volunteer opportunities.
