About Us

Sustainability

Ravenswood School for Girls is committed to fostering a sustainable and responsible educational environment.

The School strives to minimise its ecological footprint by improving its use of energy and water and minimising waste creation. This includes adopting energy-efficient technologies and promoting recycling and waste reduction initiatives.

Ravenswood supports biodiversity conservation by maintaining green spaces, planting native vegetation and providing opportunities for students to learn about local ecosystems and their importance. The School promotes climate education and encourages use of sustainable transport.

Green Team

Ravenswood established the student-led and elected Green Team in 2010.

The group meets regularly under the guidance of a teacher–mentor to discuss, plan and organise initiatives on campus that support environmental sustainability.

The Green Team’s mission is to highlight each student’s capacity to help protect the environment through small, manageable acts, and to generally raise awareness of environmental concerns.

Their initiatives offer the School and the wider community opportunities to be involved in environmentally sustainable projects, focusing on reducing waste, promoting sustainable practices for the future and encouraging active participation in local, national and international environmental initiatives.
