Boarders at the award-winning Ravenswood Residential College (RRC) enjoy a first-class living experience.
The RRC’s family-oriented approach, acclaimed academic and wellbeing support and programs, and vast selection of co-curricular activities ensure Boarders are strongly engaged and feel very much at home.
Boarding at Ravenswood
The RRC, which opened in 1935, has been recognised twice in recent years at the Australian Education Awards, winning Excellence Awards for Boarding School of the Year in 2022 and 2024.
Exemplifying the School’s trailblazing Positive Education and Wellbeing principles, the RRC supports Boarders to thrive academically, socially, physically and emotionally. With innovative boarding wellbeing programs, wellbeing rooms and outdoor gardens, games, spaces and reflection areas, it is a unique, nurturing environment that encourages self-awareness, community-mindedness, and builds a strong framework for effective communication and collaboration.
Nestled in a heritage house, it is a home away from home for students from the wider Sydney area, country NSW, interstate and overseas. Offering a safe, caring ‘boutique’ environment for 50 students in Years 6 to 12, the RRC nurtures cross-year-level connections and mentoring that builds a deep culture of respect, positivity, and a supportive ‘sisterhood’.
Ravenswood is the only school on Sydney’s Upper North Shore that offers senior students the choice of undertaking either the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program or the HSC. Ravenswood staff and Alumni serve as nightly tutors through the RRC Prep program to further nurture and support each Boarder’s learning.
The RRC also orchestrates a vibrant weekend program, exploring Sydney while catering to the diverse interests of Boarders. From delving into Sydney’s museums and galleries to embarking on outdoor adventures or partaking in community-building exercises, each activity is thoughtfully designed with Positive Education principles to cultivate a strong sense of belonging, independence, resilience, curiosity and teamwork.
Boarding Handbook
New Boarders and boarding families often have many questions about the day-to-day running of the RRC, and how it affects the student.
Each year, students and their families are given a Boarding Handbook that provides an A to Z guide answering frequently asked questions.
