Learning is a lifelong activity and does not only occur in the classroom. Critical independent thought (as well as discipline) is spurred by additional activities like homework.

Your daughter’s homework is designed to lead to success without too much struggle.
Junior School’s @ Home Learning is designed to support the range of learning activities that have occurred in the classroom.

These are structured around developing and consolidating strategies in Literacy and Numeracy, with some integrated Pastoral activities which could include reading to a younger sibling or setting the table for dinner.

We follow the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) recommendations as a homework guideline.

  • K-2 - Daily reading practice/spelling/writing
  • Years 3-4 - 30 minutes per night
  • Years 5-6 - 45 minutes per night

In Years 3-6 @ Home Learning tasks are usually issued weekly, to allow students to be involved in a range of co-curricular activities and to start managing their time. The main focus of @ Home Learning is to consolidate learning, facilitate knowledge development and strengthen the strategies taught in the classroom.

In addition, daily reading practice is a recommended activity.
