Gymnastics - Artistic and Rhythmic

  Add to Favourites
Gymnastics increases strength, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, and teaches overall body management skills, which can help improve posture, balance, spatial awareness and coordination.

The Years 7–12 House Gymnastics competition is held in Term 3, and at this event all students are given the opportunity to participate and compete for their House.

Students who perform well in the Rhythmic and Artistic Gymnastics programs are selected to represent Ravenswood at the IGSSA Carnival in Term 4.

Artistic Gymnastics Program

Artistic Gymnastics is where students learn short routines on different apparatus such as the uneven bars, balance beam, vault and floor exercise. Artistic Gymnastics is open to all Ravenswood students and girls in the general public (when class vacancies exist) in K–12 and caters for all levels of ability.

Recreational classes are for girls who want to have fun, while squad classes are for dedicated athletes who will commit four hours or more per week to perfect routines in preparation for competitions and championships. Potential squad athletes must be assessed by the Head Coach.

Opportunities exist for gymnasts who excel to compete in regional, state and national competitions.

Rhythmic Gymnastics Club

Rhythmic Gymnastics is where students learn routines as individuals or teams, using one or two pieces of apparatus such as clubs, hoop, ball, ribbon, rope and free (no apparatus). The Rhythmic Gymnastics Club is open to all Ravenswood students and girls in the general public from ages 5–24. Classes cater for all levels of ability from recreational through to elite.

Opportunities exist for gymnasts who excel to compete in regional, state and national competitions.

Rhythmic and Artistic Gymnastics training is available throughout the year on a term-by-term basis. Classes are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays after school and Saturday afternoons.
