Ravenswood crowned for innovative education

Ravenswood School for Girls has today been announced as one of The Educator’s 5-Star Innovative Schools for 2024.

Awarded the title for the sixth time in seven years, Ravenswood was again recognised for its commitment to being at the forefront of change and innovation in the education sector.

Acknowledging Ravenswood’s existing Senior School Positive Education curriculum and wellbeing programs, The Educator further recognised the School for its recent initiative of IGNITE, launched in Term 4 2023. IGNITE (Inspiring Girls and Nurturing Individuals Through Empowerment) is an innovative research-based Positive Education curriculum tailored from Prep through to Year 6 that incorporates the Positive Psychology PERMAH and Visible Wellbeing SEARCH Positive Education frameworks.

Implemented within the Unit of Inquiry: Who We Are in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, IGNITE focuses on a specific Positive Education and wellbeing themes each Term tailored for every year group.

Ravenswood School for Girls has been awarded the title of 5-Star Innovative School in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024 by The Educator, and awarded an Excellence Award in the 2024 Australian Education Awards for Best Student Wellbeing Program (the third time in four years). The School also won the Best Use of Technology Award, specifically recognised for its innovative 6th generation Class Virtual Reality (VR), and an Excellence Award for Boarding School of the Year (for the second time in three years). Other recent honours bestowed on the School include Mrs Anne Johnstone being named Australian School Principal of the Year and School Principal of the Year (Non-Government) at the 2024 Australian Education Awards, and recognised on The Educator 2024 Hot List (three years in a row).
