Mrs Anne Johnstone Named One of Australia’s Best Educators

For the third consecutive year Ravenswood Principal Mrs Anne Johnstone has been named on the 2024 Educator Hot List.

The award caps off a remarkable year for Mrs Johnstone, who was also crowned Australian School Principal of the Year and Australian School Principal of the Year (Non-Government) at the 2024 Australian Education Awards.

Now in its tenth year, the Hot List strives to highlight trailblazing education professionals and their work in the K-12 field, particularly those who demonstrate expertise in linking theory and practice, and who have implemented innovation that provides students with high-quality education experiences.

‘I am deeply honoured to receive this award’, says Mrs Johnstone. ‘This recognition is a testament to the extraordinary dedication and commitment of our whole School community. Education is a collaborative journey and we strive together to take Ravenswood ‘always towards better things’, supporting our students, and seeking to make a positive contribution beyond our gates to help young people to fulfill their potential and flourish.’

The 2024 Educator Hot List recognised Mrs Johnstone’s continued championing of a transformative Positive Education and Wellbeing Program, which has elevated Ravenswood students, staff and the wider school community through a shared vision. This recently expanded to the launch of the IGNITE (Inspiring Girls and Nurturing Individuals Through Empowerment) Positive Education Junior School curriculum program in 2023, which resulted in the School being named as one of The Educator’s 5-Star Innovative Schools for 2024 (for the fifth time in six years).

Along with her initiative of Ravenswood’s award-winning Wellbeing Path, being the driving force behind the highest value art prize for women in Australia, Chair of the Excellence in Leadership and Teaching Council of the Association of Independent Schools (AISNSW) and Global Chair of the International Positive Education Framework (IPEN), The Educator duly named Mrs Johnstone on its Hot List for 2024 as a beacon of cutting edge educational excellence in Australia.
