Speech provides Secondary School students with the opportunity to develop effective public speaking skills for their future tertiary education and for their personal and social lives. From improvisation to formal persuasive speaking, Speech helps develop confident and self-assured communicators.

Speak Up ‘n’ Out

Speak Up ‘n’ Out aims to equip Secondary School students with confident speaking and listening skills. The objectives are to speak with impact, confidence and total engagement of the listener. The course is conducted as a meeting with a Chairperson, Secretary and Committee members and students have the opportunity to prepare for various public speaking competitions.

Years 7-11 Speak Up ‘n’ Out

Students learn to perfect their voice and manner of speaking through prepared and impromptu speaking, news reading and discussion and social speeches. A variety of activities, including preparing book reviews, information reports, pleading a case and entertaining speeches allow students to build further confidence in their speaking skills. Students may also prepare for the Rostrum, Voice of Youth Public Speaking Competition.

Private Tuition

Ravenswood offers Private Speech Communication tuition before, during and after school for students in K-12. Private Speech Tuition is available for speech training in the Australian Speech Communication Association Exams (ASCA) or Trinity Exams, London.
