Break the Bias by Tiarn (Year 11)

Let me let you in on a secret

Because there’s only 0.8 percent more men in the world than women

I think we deserve some more recognition

Than what history and society tells us

Because it’s not always Mr. Engineer, Mr. Technician, Mr. Politician

I understand the condition

That I’m a woman and you’re a man

And we’re different

But we need to move on from this dichotomous view

That I’m, me and you’re you

Because somewhere between us

An equality lies

That’s somehow tangled in the roots of a history that’s denied

Our rights as women

Our freedom as women

So take my hand and join me

Because breaking the bias requires the strength of the many to

Tear down this wall

Break the chains

Unleash the reins

That holds captive the roles we can attain

Because the women out there need us

The ones lifting a family on their own two feet

The ones driving a car when they’re stuck in the backseat

The ones pounding on a door that won’t open

Because the world isn’t ready to let them n

But finally we’ve reached a time where we can change the outcome of this disparity

Close the gap and create global gender parity

If only we break the bias in solidarity
