The countdown begins to the Opening Night of the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize – Australia’s highest-value women’s art prize.
The Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize is an annual acquisitive prize that was launched in 2017 to advance art and opportunity for emerging and established women artists in Australia. Now in its sixth year, it is the highest-value professional artist prize for women in Australia.
With 1540 entries received in 2022, the Opening Night and The Exhibition of Finalists will showcase the 105 finalists representing every state and territory across Australia contending for the three prizes – the Professional Artist Prize of $35,000, the Emerging Artist Prize of $5,000 and the Indigenous Emerging Artist Prize of $5,000. There is also a People’s Choice Award of $2,000.
Tickets are now on sale for the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize Opening Night on Friday 13 May to be held at Ravenswood School For Girls in Gordon when the winners will be announced. Artworks will also be on display and available for purchase in the 2022 Exhibition of Finalists opening Saturday 14 May for two weeks (Thursday through Sunday).
‘As Principal of Ravenswood I am so proud of the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize and I look forward to announcing our talented winners on our Opening Night,’ said Mrs Anne Johnstone. ‘Inspiring and connecting women visual artists, this significant Art Prize supports current and future generations of Australian women artists by providing them with a platform to showcase their creative expression and extraordinary talents.’
