The Ravenswood Community Forums series provides Ravenswood parents, staff, Alumni and their families the invaluable opportunity to hear the latest insights, advice and learn strategies and toolkits from leading experts in their fields. This year, Ravenswood has welcomed six wellbeing and parenting experts on campus covering online safety and cyber bullying, social media safety, parenting, raising resilient teenagers, alcohol and drug education with your teenagers to keep them safe, and friendship skills and strategies.
Dr Judith Locke, leading Clinical Psychologist and Director of Confident and Capable, provided the community with practical parenting approaches and addressed practical strategies to encourage confidence, resilience and self-regulation in teenagers in their schooling and schoolwork while maintaining harmony in the home.
Ravenswood also welcomed Paul Dillon, Director and Founder of Drug and Alcohol Research Australia (DARTA)who imparted to parents advice about navigating the complex social landscape with teens, and provided a range of insights and strategies to keeping young people safe within appropriate boundaries, particularly in regards to alcohol and vaping.
Australia’s foremost cyber safety expert Susan McLean delivered an insightful Ravenswood Community Forum on online safety, cyber bullying and the impact of digital reputation on future opportunities. She provided the community with up-to-date insights to keep young people safe in the constantly changing digital world.
Ravenswood also welcomed back one of the largest, in-demand social media and cyber safety education and training organisations, Safe on Social for a meaningful Ravenswood Community Forum on how to keep daughters safe online through education and empowerment. Kirra Pendergast, the founder of Safe on Social, presented an essential update for the community on the latest strategies for staying across what young people are accessing online and offered valuable and practical advice, tools and techniques for how to have important social media and online conversations.
Tyson Greenwood, Director of UR STRONG, presented an online Ravenswood Community forum for Junior School parents and their daughters, sharing skills and language to foster healthy, feel-good friendships and a culture of kindness at Ravenswood.
Rouding out the 2024 Ravenswood Community Forums was popular co-host and parenting expert on Channel Nine’s Parental Guidance Dr. Justin Coulson, who shared knowledge from his #1 Parenting Podcast Happy Families. Speaking to both staff, parents and Alumni across two sessions, Justin spoke of the importance for parents and guardians to make children more resilient, and provided coping strategies and tips to help parents positively support their children with the challenges they face.
