Picnic at Hanging Rock

Year 11 drama students have produced, directed and performed a polished version of the intriguing Australian classic, Picnic at Hanging Rock. Set in 1900, the mysterious plot centres around three girls from a private Victorian school who go picnicking at Hanging Rock on Valentine’s Day, and disappear without a trace. ‘I incorporated what we have learned about the Brecht style of theatre, through the beginning of the play, breaking the barrier between audience and actor,’ said director Lauren (Year 11). ‘There was a lot to organise, including the costumes and props but we overcame any obstacles as a team. We are such a close group of girls thanks to our play and I could not be prouder of how far each girl pushed themselves!’
